What is the Discovery Trail?
The Jasper Discovery Trail is a
new
8
km
multi-use trail around the perimeter of Jasper.
Built in 2005-6 by the
Municipality of Jasper and Parks Canada, this
trail is already popular with visitors and residents as both a pleasant
destination and a gateway to further exploration of Jasper National Park.
What are we doing on the
trail?
This year,
the Friends of Jasper National Park are coordinating the creation of
educational
and directional signs for the trail to orient trail users and give them a
sense of what makes Jasper and Jasper National Park unique.
We are working with a creative team of representatives from Parks Canada,
Municipality of Jasper, Jasper's Green Space Committee, and Jasper-Yellowhead
Museum & Archives.
How can you contribute?
In return for your gift of $50 or more, you will be recognized on a
beautiful “Built by our Community” panel on the main trail kiosk. Gifts over
$2000 will be recognized on their own carved grizzly paw print on the panel.
You need not be from Jasper to contribute
to this trail.
Here in this National Park
and World Heritage Site,
our
community extends
town boundaries and
includes all who feel a special connection to Jasper and Jasper National
Park.
